19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.
Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.
It is the player's maiden title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since spring of 2023.
The win also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.
Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
The competitors traded break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.
Moutet defended four initial break points in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner secured the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
