Only one goal in his initial ten Premier League appearances this campaign had many questioning whether Dominic Calvert-Lewin's best days were behind him.

However, a only four weeks later, he stands as the hottest striker in England following bagging 7 goals in six back-to-back games.

His newest strike, in a 1-1 draw versus Sunderland, brought his tally to eight, making him the top English scorer in the Premier League so far this season.

A Stunning Return to Form

The 28-year-old moved to Leeds United on a Bosman move in the summer, after a nine-year spell with Everton that was blighted by fitness issues in its final stages.

But, the data behind his comeback in Daniel Farke's new fast-breaking 3-5-2 setup are extremely notable.

His six-game scoring sequence puts him in exclusive company as just the 11th English player to score in six or more successive Premier League outings.

To frame that statistic, even England captain Harry Kane did not achieve a run lasting this many games - his top stands at two individual five-match runs.

And the only English striker to better Calvert-Lewin in recent years is Jamie Vardy, who embarked on an eight-game scoring spree for Leicester City in 2019.

Why has Calvert-Lewin so difficult to stop in recent weeks? A recent opponent's manager explained it succinctly.
